Attire
The first day, dancers are required to wear a dance top or sports bra showing their midriff (any color is fine) with hot pants (dance shorts), skin-colored tights and jazz shoes. The second day, we ask that dancers wear a black sports bra and black hot pants with skin colored tights.
Technique
Technical skills will include but are not limited to the following:
Kicks and extension
Double, Triple, Quad Pirouettes (right)
Fouette turns/Turns in second
Leaps in second
Switch leaps
Chaine Opens (turning disc)
Calypso leaps
Toe touch
(You do not need to bring your own routine to tryouts)
A tryout prep clinic will be held in March. It is encouraged that all girls planning on trying out in April attend the clinic.
FAQ
Q: How do you prepare for tryouts?
A: We offer two college prep clinics that are very beneficial if you are wanting to tryout - one in the fall and the other in the spring before tryouts.
Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: We do offer a $1000 scholarship each year to team members. Alternates receive a partial scholarship.
Q: Are their alternate positions, and what do the alternates do?
A: We typically have two alternate positions. As a part of the team, alternates attend to all required practices, particpate in fundraiers, and usually have the opportunity to perform throughout the year.
Q: Do the Rebelettes compete?
A: We do compete at UDA College Nationals in January. In 2010, the Rebelettes placed 9th is IA Dance and 13th in IA Hip Hop in 2009.
Q: Will you accept video's for tryouts?
A: You must be present at tryouts in order to make the team. We will only accept videos in extreme circumstances.
Q: Do you have a height or weight requirement?
A: No, we do not. We do encourage all team members to be in good physical shape. Appearance and fitness are evaluated in the tryout process as a part of the overall score.

9:00 Physical fitness and Interviews begin
11:00 Lunch - on own
12:00 Learn pom/hip hop routine
12:45 Advanced technique across the floor
1:30 Perform pom/hip hop and jazz routine in groups
3:30 Final cut is made
4:00 Meeting with new team - it is required for all members
